The Reference Kit Reference K382B is a set of precision components essential for the maintenance of the rear hydraulic braking system of the frames equipped with brakes RR. This kit is specifically designed for 2-piston stirrups, ensuring a return to original braking performance.

The maintenance of the braking system is a critical aspect of the mechanical preparation. With time and repeated heating cycles, rubber seals lose their elasticity and pistons can accumulate impurities, resulting in a loss of progressivity or seizure of the stirrup. This complete kit allows a total refurbishment of the internal sealing elements.

Usefulness and technical information

The use of this kit is recommended at each major overhaul of the chassis or as soon as a brake fluid leak appears.

  • Product reference: K382b

  • Compatibility: Rear caliper RR Standard racing with 2 pistons.

  • Type content: High temperature seals (cups), scraper joints, and fluid passage joints between the two half-shells of the stirrup.

  • Materials: Synthetic brake liquid resistant elastomers (DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 according to the manufacturer recommendations).

The role of this kit is to guarantee a constant hydraulic pressure on the pads and to ensure the correct removal of the pistons after braking, thus avoiding the residual friction that slows down the kart in a straight line.

Michel's trick

When reassembling your new joints, Michel advises you never to go up. Use a special silicone grease hazel for brakes or, failing that, moisten slightly with the new brake fluid you will use for the circuit. This allows joints to set up without twisting or tearing up when inserting pistons. Michel also recalls to check the surface condition of your pistons: if they have deep stripes, the change of joints alone will not be enough to guarantee the seal.

Mounting tutorial: revision of the stirrup RR

  1. Disassembly: Remove the frame from the frame and separate the two half-shells by unscrewing the connecting screws.

  2. Piston extraction: Use compressed air carefully to remove the pistons from their homes. Be careful not to project the pistons.

  3. Cleaning: Clean the inside of the stirrup and the pistons thoroughly with a quality brake cleaner. Make sure no liquid or liquid residue stays in the joints grooves.

  4. Replacing the joints: Remove the old seals with a plastic hook to not scratch the aluminum. Install the new K382B kit joints in their respective locations after lubricating them.

  5. Reassembly: Reinsert straight pistons by hand. Reassemble the two parts of the stirrup by not forgetting the central seal provided in the kit. Tighten the binding screws to the recommended torque.

  6. Commissioning: Reassemble the stirrup on the bracket, connect the hose and proceed to a complete purge of the system to hunt all air bubbles.
