Summary: the performance of magnesium

This hub is not a simple accessory. Unlike aluminum versions, the magnesium offers two major benefits in competition:

  1. Lightness: Reduction of non-suspended masses, which facilitates the rotation of the axle and improves the vivacity of the kart.

  2. Thermal management: Magnesium is better dissipating the heat generated by the tires. This helps stabilize tire pressure during long races (eg KZ or endurance events), avoiding excessive overheating of the gum.

The length of 78 mm offers an important lever arm, ideal for loading the back train and gaining motor skills.

- Mounting tutorial: precautions with magnesium

Magnesium is a very powerful but more fragile metal than aluminum facing shocks and clamping stresses.

  1. Cleaning the axle: Clean the axle carefully with an effective degreaser. The magnesium hubs are more sensitive to "sliding" on the axle if the surface is not perfectly clean.

  2. Tightening (critical step): Never tighten as a forcené. Magnesium can crack if the constraint is too strong. Use a torque wrench if possible.

    • Tighten gradually and alternately.

    • Firm tightening is sufficient. If you feel that the hub does not move, stop.

  3. Post-race verification: Magnesium works differently from aluminum. After each race weekend, check for micro-cracks at the clamping screws. This is the golden rule in competition.

💡 Michel's trick

"The choice of magnesium is a question of 'Feeling' on the grip. The trick: If your kart tends to be stuck to the track and lacks freedom, the magnesium hub (thanks to its different rigidity and its ability to dissipate the heat) can help to release 'the chassis in the middle of curve. My Pro Council: Never mix magnesium and aluminum on the same axle. If you mount 78mm magnesium hubs on the left, go up to the right. Mechanical symmetry is imperative not to distort the behavior of your chassis CRG. "

❓ FAQ SEO (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: Why choose magnesium rather than aluminum ?

A: To gain weight and better manage the temperature of the tires. On a very hot track, the magnesium helps prevent the tire pressure from rising too high, thereby maintaining a better grip over the entire duration of the final.

Q: Does the magnesium oxidize ?

A: Yes, magnesium is sensitive to oxidation if it is poorly stored or exposed to aggressive products. After cleaning your kart, wipe your hubs well to avoid any surface corrosion.

Q: Is this 78mm model compatible with all chassis CRG ? ?

A: Yes, as long as your chassis is equipped with a 50 mm axle (standard on current models type KT2, Road Rebel, Heron, etc.).

✅ Ready for the track ?

You have equipped your "Factory" component kart. To finalize the assembly:

  • [Vérification de l'essieu] (Make sure it is not veiled because the magnesium will not forgive the vibrations).

  • [Écrous de roues] (Use quality nuts to protect the studs).
