In the 22SRR pump, this part ensures Dynamic tightness. Unlike a static O-ring (which does not move), it is subjected to a constant back and forth movement at each pressure on the pedal.

• Function: It prevents the brake fluid from reflving backwards the piston and holds the hydraulic pressure needed to operate your stirrups.

• Consequence of a failure: A pedal that becomes "soft", which sinks to the floor, or a leak of liquid that appears at the protective bellows (cap).

The bellows (or protective cap) is located at the back of the piston, where the thrust rod enters the body of the pump. Its role is often underestimated:

• Physical barrier: It prevents track dust, gum residues and moisture to enter the cylinder.

• Piston protection: Once the dust enters, it mixes with grease and creates an abrasive paste that shines the surface of the piston and the body of the pump.

• Sustainability: A bellows in good condition multiplies two the life of your internal cups.
