What is a recovery tank for?

In karting, this component performs three essential functions related to performance, safety and regulation.

1. Track safety

The main role of this tank is to prevent fluids (box oil, gasoline vapours or coolant depending on the connection) from pouring directly onto the runway. A single drop of oil on a tire or bitumen can cause a loss of fatal grip for you or the drivers who follow you.

2. Regulatory compliance (FFSA / CIK-FIA)

In most official competitions, the presence of a fluid waste picker is mandatory. The technical commissioners verify that the engine sniffs (airing) are well connected to an airtight bottle to avoid air pollution.

3. Protection of the environment and equipment

The tank keeps your chassis clean. Without it, oil projections attach to the frame, rear brake and shaft, accumulating dust and making the mechanics complex and dirty.

4. Engine diagnostic

The volume of fluid recovered from the vial after a session can be used as an indicator of the health of your engine. An abnormal amount of oil may indicate overheating, tired segmentation or overfill during initial filling.
