Summary: Why the complete kit ?
Do not replace the seals one by one if your pump is "spongy". The complete kit allows you to leave on a healthy basis.
-
Type content: The kit generally includes the piston, the primary cup, the secondary cup, the O-rings, the maintenance circlips and sometimes the protective bellows.
-
When to use it: As soon as you see a loss of constant pressure, an internal leak (the pedal drops gently under pressure), or after a long wintering where the liquid could crystallize.

- Mounting tutorial: the golden rule of cleanliness
The success of your repair depends to 90% of the cleanliness of the bore (the inner hole of the pump body).
-
Inspection (the Nail Test): Once the pump disassembled and cleaned, pass your nail in the cylinder.
-
Mounting the seals:
-
Systematically soak the new seals in clean brake fluid (DOT 4 or 5.1).
-
Never use classic (mineral) mechanical grease. If you are using a lubricant for mounting, it must be compatible with the EPDM seals (specific brake silicone grease).
-
Insertion order: Follow the order of the Birelart record (often: piston -> cups -> washers -> circlips).
-
Immediate purge: Once reassembled on the kart, the purge must be performed with method. Do not leave air bubbles imprisoned behind the new primary cup.
💡 Michel's trick
"The biggest risk goes up this kit, it's to pinch the cup lip when inserting into the pump body. The trick: The cup is very fragile. My Pro Council: Once the seal is on the piston, present the set at the cylinder inlet. If it resists, do not force! Rotate the piston very slightly on itself by pushing gently. The seal will self-center and enter without turning around. If you force then that the seal is incorrectly engaged, you mark it irreparably and the pump will flee from the first pressure. "
❓ FAQ SEO (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: Does the KIT Cl and the 22SR kit are interchangeable ?
A: No. Although very close, piston diameters can vary from a few tenths of millimeter between generations. Always check the engraved reference on your pump body or refer to the exploded view specific to your chassis.
Q: Why is my new piston sometimes different from the old one ?
A: Birelart evolves its pieces (22SRR VS 22SR series). If you have received a slightly different room, check that the diameter and length are identical. This is the normal evolution of the braking components.
Q: Do I have to change the circlip with the kit ?
A: Yes, it's strongly advised. A circlip that has already been mounted / disassembled loses its elastic tension. It would be a shame to risk a piston ejection for a room that costs a few cents.
