Cleaning: Massage perfectly with the housing. The outer edge of the seal must be clean for "biting" aluminum.
Lubrication: Put a thin film of engine oil on the inner lip before sliding the seal on the crankshaft.
Positioning: Use a laying tool (or a large diameter sleeve) to press the seal well flat. It must be perfectly perpendicular to the axis.
Verification: Once in place, the crankshaft must rotate freely by hand. If there is suspicious resistance, the seal may be misplaced.
