This perforated copper washer is a critical piece between the cylinder head dome and the cylinder. It fills two essential functions: ensure a perfect thermal seal under high pressure and allow the preparer to adjust the squish (Piston distance / cylinder head).

Choice of thickness: The thickness chosen directly influences your value of squish. A too thin seal can cause a shock between the piston and the cylinder head at high speed, while a thick seal decreases compression and performance.
SUISH measurement: Use precision tin wire to measure your squish after installing the puck and tight the cylinder head to the torque.
Tightening to the couple: It is imperative to use a torque wrench to tighten the crosse cylinder heads (usually between 1.0 and 1.2 kgm on these models) to crush the washer in a uniform way.
Single use: Although copper can sometimes be reused after an anneck, it is strongly advised to use a new seal each disassembly to ensure a perfect seal in competition.

Q: Is this seal compatible with new R2 and R3 models ?
A: Yes, after checking the technical specifications of the TM Racing factory, the cylinder head and the dome sealing system (detail 6) are identical for the engines KZ10C, R1, R2 and R3.
Q: How to know what thickness order ?
A: It depends on the height of your piston with respect to the top of the cylinder. Refer to the mounting data sheet provided by TM or your preparer for the value of Squish target (often located between 0.90 mm and 1.05 mm depending on the categories).
Q: Should we add from the joint dough ?
A: Absolutely not. Copper ensures mechanical crushing sealing. The joint paste could obstruct the perforated cooling ducts in the washer.
