Full description: Why choose these housings?

The transition to the black crankcase after 2014 is not just a question of aesthetics:

  1. Superior machining quality: Carters are appared to manufacturing. This means that both halves are machined simultaneously so that the bearings housing is perfectly coaxial.

  2. Thermal dissipation: The specific black coating helps heat dissipation, now a more stable operating temperature for low engine.

  3. Structural reinforcements: Post-2014 versions benefited from competing feedback to strengthen zones of strong constraints, including engine supports and crankshaft bearings.

  4. Perfect sealing: The seal planes are surfaced with micrometric precision, ensuring a constant pre-compression and no leakage of oil or air.

"Attention guys, change a crankcase, it's the equivalent of an open-heart operation! We never buy one side of Carter: they are sold in pairs because they are machined together. If you mix a left side of a motor and a right side of another, your bearings will force and you will break everything in 10 minutes. My advice: Enjoy it for mounting new 6206 crankshafts and spis joints of high quality. And above all, uses a torque wrench to close the block, otherwise you risk to veiling the plan of seal!"


🎓 Tuto: assembly and recommendations

  1. Preparation: Clean the seal plans perfectly. Use a powerful degreaser to remove any trace of storage oil.

  2. Heating: To insert the bearings without stress, heat the baked housings or with a thermal stiffer (about 80-100 ° C). The bearing must fall into its accommodation without forcing.

  3. Seal: Apply a thin layer of high quality joint dough or use the original paper seal. Be careful not to obstruct the lubrication channels!

  4. Tightening: Tighten cross crankcase screws, in successive stages, to ensure that both halves are perfectly uniform.
