Despite its simple appearance, this spring has strict technical characteristics (70 mm in diameter, 1.7 mm high and 0.3 mm thick) To meet the engine requirements Rotax Max:

  1. Hermetic compression: Its function is to tackle the lip of the membrane against the body of the valve. With a thickness of 0.3 mmIt offers the flexibility to be mounted without a sharp tool while exerting a constant tension to prevent pressure leaks.

  2. Pneumatic pressure management: The valve system Rotax Works by pressure difference. This spring allows the membrane to form a waterproof chamber. If the spring is relaxed, the pressure escapes, preventing the guillotine from rising to 7,500 rpm.

  3. Thermal resistance: Made in high quality spring steel, it retains its elastic properties despite the intense heat released by the exhaust block located in the immediate vicinity.

💡 Michel's trick

"Do not be done by the size, this 70 mm spring is ultra-precise! If it is distorted, even slightly, it will no longer appear the membrane in a homogeneous way. My advice of old briscard: when you remove it for cleaning, do not stumble it Not like a savage. If it does not slap 'more good when you put it back in place, it is dead. A spring with 2 balls can make you lose 10 km / h in a straight line if the valve opens badly!"

🎓 Tuto: installation and control

  1. Visual inspection: Before mounting, put the spring flat on a straight surface. If it is veiled (if it does not touch anywhere), replace it. Its dimensions of 1.7 x 0.3 mm Do not tolerate any deformation.

  2. Cleaning the throat: Before positioning the spring, pass a clean cloth with brake cleaner in the valve body groove. The membrane must adhere perfectly to the metal.

  3. Setting up: Slide the spring gradually around the membrane. Make sure it is well centered and does not plus orange rubber.

  4. Test of rotation: Once the spring is in place, the membrane should no longer be able to move or turn freely. This is the sign that the seal is optimal.
